We will see a sunny and calm weekend before rain and snow arrives Sunday night and on Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Today will be sunny and clear with some light wind, with temperatures rising to around 48 degrees. Tonight skies will stay clear and temperatures will drop to around 29 degrees.

Sunday we will see clouds increase throughout the day, with temperatures rising a little more to around 52 degrees.

However, after dark rain chances will rise, with showers becoming likely in the early hours of Monday morning. At the same time, the NWS said that rain will mix with snow near the Interstate 71 corridor, changing slowly to all snow on Monday from west to east.

Temperatures on Sunday night will be around 36 degrees.

For Monday, temperatures won’t get any warmer, with a high only around 37 degrees. Snow and rain will be likely for most of the day until rain chances fall away in the afternoon.

Snow will continue to fall long into the night, the NWS predicted, before chances gradually taper off on Tuesday. Overnight temperatures will fall to around 29 degrees.

The NWS warned that light accumulations of snow are likely, and there is a potential for traffic impacts Monday night and Tuesday morning.
