That's what the Gila County Sheriff's Office is saying after criticizing an Arizona hiker who had to be rescued from Fossil Creek along with some friends, KNXV reported.
"This hiker failed to take the posted warnings seriously as she and seven others had to be rescued," the Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post. "Definitely not appropriate footwear for the ten mile hike."
The Sheriff's Office said the hiker was one of eight people who had to be saved Sunday.
Rule No. 2: Wear sturdy hiking shoes, not flip-flops.
The hikers rescued Sunday violated that rule, wearing open-toed footwear.
The Sheriff's Office said 200 people have to be rescued from the trail each year, KNXV reported.
