Tax credits seen as key for century old Miamisburg downtown site

Miamisburg is moving forward on the redevelopment of iconic Main Street buildings, a project estimated to cost $1.4 million.

The city council has approved a deal with Simplify Real Estate and Moda4 Design, developers to partner in the effort to refurbish the former Suttman’s Men’s and Boys’ Wear at 24-32 S. Main St., which was built around 1900.

The city has demolished part of the structures with an eye on redeveloping the site with “high-quality retail and residential space,” Miamisburg Development Director Chris Fine has said.

A memorandum of understanding involving the developers and the city was approved by Miamisburg council Tuesday night.

The agreement would commit the city to fund $75,000 for initial costs for plans and specifications, city records show. The document would also “acknowledge the need” for the city to provide $225,000 more in public funds, but would not commit Miamisburg to spend that money.
