5 things to know about Hamilton’s newest market and deli

Alexander’s Market & Deli, which closed in November at 160 High St., is reopening soon under new owners.

Here are five things to know about the new business:

1. It will debut in a little more than a month

Alexander’s Market & Deli plans to hold invite-only soft opening seatings the third and fourth weeks of April. It will open to the public May 1.

2. It will have sandwiches galore — and more

The business will feature six Classic Deli Sandwiches, six Signature Sandwiches and six soups, including Creamy Chile Chicken Queso and Balsamic Roasted Tomato Soup.

Also available will be a full-service salad bar and a wide array of case items including rotisserie chicken salad, tuna salad, creamy cole slaw, southern style egg potato salad, mustard potato salad, sour cream and bacon potato salad, vegetable pasta salad, sweet and sour cucumber salad and more.

3. It’s getting a new general manager, chef and owner

Rachel Wieland, of West Chester Twp., who has more than 15 years of culinary experience, will serve as general manager and chef. Wieland, a graduate of Midwest Culinary Institute at Cincinnati State, was previously chef and owner of Glendalia Boutique Hotel & Culinary Studio .

Les Rudisell, of Deer Park, will be the new owner of Alexander’s.

4. The business is in its third incarnation

The storefront in the formerly empty Elder-Beerman building opened in September 2015 as Jackson’s Market, but its owners sold the business to an employee in April 2016 because of the loss of family time and lingering health issues. It operated under the new name Alexander’s Market & Deli from April 2016 until it closed last November.

5. You can win a chance to sample its menu

Alexander's Market & Deli is holding a Name Our Sandwich Contest, with each person submitting up to six entries for the deli's six sandwiches. Winners will be invited to a special VIP night, where Alexander's Market & Deli will showcase the new business and offer a tasting of its menu.
