7 things to know about WLW radio personality Lisa Wells

A popular radio personality and fill-in host from the home of TV talk show host and conservative commentator Bill Cunningham finds herself in hot water.

Newsradio 700 WLW Lisa Wenzel Wells, also a defense attorney, is facing charges of drug possession and operating a vehicle while impaired in Miami County.

Here are a few things you should know about Wells:

Her baby shower was held on WLW
Radio personalities Bill Cunningham, Seg Dennison, Scott Sloan, Eddie & Tracy and other WLW personalities held a baby shower live in the WLW studio for Wells and her husband Brian in 2014 (you can see photos here).

She was pulled over in the Dayton area
The 37-year-old West Chester Twp. resident was stopped by an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper on southbound Interstate 75 near Piqua on Jan. 25.

She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Miami County Municipal Court in Troy on March 3.

She's a Northern Kentucky University grad
Wells went directly into NKU's Salmon P. Chase College of Law after graduating from the university with a degree in political science, according to her bio. She interned at several insurance defense firms.

Learned criminal law from prosecutors
After graduation, she worked one year as an assistant prosecutor for the Kenton County (KY) Commonwealth Attorney's Office.

"Essentially, Lisa Wenzel learned how to practice criminal law by the very people who are trying to put her current clients in jail!” her bio reads.

Her true calling

Wells worked in the Kentucky Governor's Office before pursuing a career in criminal defense -- which, according to her bio, is "her true calling."

She opened the Law Office of Lisa Wenzel in 2006 in Covington, Ky. She also now has an office in West Chester.

She frequently defends the rights of citizens on the radio.

Wide range of experience
Wells is death penalty certified. Her practice areas include assault, civil sex cases, DUI and OVI, homicide, white collar crimes, sex crimes and drug cases.

On the air
Wells has been a regular WLW guest and legal analyst since 2011. She occasionally fills in as host.
