May was a good month for auto sales with an 11.3 percent increase and 1,606,264 units sold. Annual sales hit 16.77 million vehicles, the strongest since 2007. Curiously, trucks (including SUVs and vans) outsell cars in the U.S., but by a narrow margin. The top-selling vehicle of May, and most months, was the Ford F-150 pickup truck with 68,520 sold, 305,265 YTD, according to data from motorintelligence.com.
