Walmart already uses Microsoft services for critical applications and workloads, but it will use the company for cloud innovation projects for machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data platform solutions for customer-facing services and internal business applications.
The partnership is a five-year deal in which Walmart’s cloud solutions, including Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 for enterprise-wide use, will standardize across the company’s brands.

Walmart and Microsoft engineers will begin to collaborate on the assessment, development, and support phase of moving hundreds of applications to cloud native architectures.
To grow online experience, Walmart will migrate much of walmart.com and samsclub.com to Azure, including its cloud-powered check-out to help Walmart grow with customer demand.
Nearly 270 million customers visit the company’s 11,700 stores under 65 banners and websites each week. Walmart has 38 stores located in the greater Dayton area, according to the company’s store locator.
