Unseasonably warm before bitter cold, snow return

Clouds will thicken with patchy fog and some light showers developing, mainly late. It will stay mild, with temperatures only dropping into the upper 40s, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell said.

DETAILED FORECAST

Thursday: Expect a mix of sun and clouds with a chance for showers, especially late in the day and toward evening. Temperatures will near record warmth, topping out in the upper 50s with breezy conditions.

Friday: Rain will mix with freezing rain and sleet from west to east through the day – eventually changing to all snow by late evening. Some ice and snow accumulation will be possible through the evening. Temperatures will start the day in the upper 30s but fall through the afternoon. It will be windy at times.

Saturday: Snow will be likely early in the morning but quickly taper off from west to east. Total snow accumulation will range from around 2 to 4 inches in the southern Miami Valley – to 4 to 8 inches or more near and north of Interstate 70. The exact track of the storm will play a crucial role in precipitation type and amounts, so the forecast snow amounts could change, perhaps significantly.

Sunday: Skies will be partly sunny. A few flurries will be possible. It will be quite cold with highs only in the upper teens.

Monday: Snow showers will return in the afternoon. Highs will reach into the middle 20s.
