Apps give you 'invisible boyfriend' – or girlfriend – for $25 a month


The Internet has given us so much already — great communication tools, pizza ordering without picking up a phone and more.

Now, it will give you a boyfriend or girlfriend.

The apps Invisible Boyfriend and Invisible Girlfriend claim to give you "real-world and social proof that you're in a relationship — even if you're not." And all for $24.99 a month.

UsMagazine.com reports that founder Matthew Homann has already begun to see positive feedback, and the reason he started it was simple: "I was newly divorced and got tired of everyone asking if I was dating or seeing someone. There seems to be this romance culture in our country where people are looked down upon if they aren't in a relationship."

Both The Washington Post's Caitlin Dewey and Time's Charlotte Alter wrote about their "invisible boyfriends." Alter's experience didn't go well — her "Leonardo DiCaprio" got a little bit squirrely when she brought up marriage — while Dewey was a little more low-key with hers, "Ryan Gosling."
