As monuments around the world lit up in tribute to the 129 people killed in Friday's terrorist attacks in Paris, one notable attraction stayed dark.

"At the request of the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, the Eiffel Tower will remain in the dark throughout the coming night in sign of mourning," the landmark's official website says.
The popular tourist attraction is closed until further notice.
According to The Associated Press, the tower is usually illuminated hourly every evening.
