Munich mall shooting: What we know now

A heavily armed man opened fire and killed nine people while injuring at least 10 people. Many of the victims were teenagers.

The incident is believed to have been a shooting rampage inspired by prior mass shootings, and not connected to any terrorist group, German authorities said Saturday.

Munich police say they believe the 18-year-old shooter killed himself and appears to have acted alone, according to the Associated Press.

The mall incident comes after an Afghan teen with an axe attacked riders on a train in Bavaria on Monday, injuring five people before being shot and killed by police. That incident is believed to be connected to Islamic terrorism, as the attacker shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is Great) during the attack and a homemade ISIS flag was found in the 17-year-old refugee's room at his foster home, according to Reuters.
