YES - Space Shuttle To Land At Wright-Patt

One of the retiring space shuttles is coming to the National Museum of the Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, NASA announced today.

The (space-flown shuttle Endeavour, Atlantis, Discovery or shuttle Enterprise, which was used in testing but never flown in outer space) will be on permanent display at the museum, which could draw an additional 1 million visitors per year, according to officials.

The museum, which already draws about 1.3 millions visitors annually, competed with 20 other sites nationwide for the right to display one of the shuttles.

Tony Schulimbrene, Director of the National Aviation Heritage Alliance said, "First and foremost, it's going to be an economic punch for the region. We're going to see more people come to Dayton, not just from around the country but from around the world."

Endeavour and Atlantis will make one more flight each this year before they are officially retired and NASA ends the space shuttle program.
