Julia Wallace is responsible for setting strategic and operational direction for all of Cox Media Group Ohio’s properties. 


The properties include: WHIO-TV, the top-rated CBS affiliate; the Dayton Daily News, WHIO radio, K99, the top radio station in the market, Cox Digital Marketing, Dayton.com and numerous other brands.


She joined CMG Ohio in 2010 and has been instrumental in bringing the newspaper, TV and radio operations together.  Since then, WHIO ratings have increased substantially, as we focused on providing viewers with more local news that is important and relevant to them.


Julia is a veteran journalist, who was named 2004 Editor of the Year by Editor and Publisher Magazine and received the Alumni Merit Award from her alma mater, Northwestern University. She was editor of the Atlanta Journal Constitution during a time when it won two Pulitzer Prizes and published a variety of exposés that led to dozens of indictments. That included a multi-year investigation into teacher and administration cheating in the Atlanta Public Schools. She was also a top editor at USA Today, the Chicago Sun-Times and the Arizona Republic.


She has gained a reputation for innovative work  and aggressive focus on digital projects. She has been very active fights for public access to information.


In Dayton, she is active in community activities, including the Alzheimer’s Association and the Dayton Development Coalition. She helped raise $4 million for a downtown  development project.


Julia is a national board member of the Alzheimer’s Association and a board member of the Ohio Association of Broadcasters.
