Donut Palace puts unique twist on chocolate-glazed donuts — and customers approve

Last year, Donut Palace manager Amy White said, "There are no bounds to what we can do with a donut."

Since then, she has not lost an ounce of steam.

In May, manager Amy White was inspired to create full sheet cakes from the same indulgently decadent batter that Donut Palace uses for its donuts. The response was overwhelmingly positive and prompted dozens of creative combinations that customers concocted themselves.

This month, White revealed what she’s been most recently perfecting — a chocolate glazed yeast donut that cannot be bought and is very unique, according to White. It’s a recipe modification that’s created an entirely new donut texture and taste. Compared to a traditional donut batter customers would expect, the chocolate yeast donut is lighter and less jellied.

“What it is is the perfect combination of the chocolate devils food because not everyone likes the cake. However I myself love the glaze (on donuts) but I like to have chocolate too,” White said. ... “So we’ve kind of busted the game wide open on the donuts. You can’t buy the chocolate yeast mix anywhere, even my supply team. So this is truly my original recipe for the chocolate yeast glaze.”

Customers have been raving about Donut Palace’s new offerings. The chocolate yeast batter can be used in any of the customized donut cakes Donut Palace began selling last year, in addition to many donuts the bakery was already making.

“I’ve always been a foodie and playing around mixing things in the kitchen. I just enjoy seeing what I can come up with. Being here and having that outlet just kind of feels like what I was meant to do. It’s been a real blessing to be here.” White said.
