National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day in Dayton Where to get free cookies

On Sunday, Aug. 4, we honor the cookie that’s perfect hot out of the oven or dunked in a cold glass of milk. National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day is a day to rejoice in all the joy cookies have ever brought to your life.

In May, the nation celebrated a whole day dedicated to chocolate chips. But today, we get to celebrate the chocolate chip’s best friend— the cookie.

To celebrate, Ashley's Pastry Shop, 21 Park Ave. in Oakwood, wants Daytonians to try celebrity Allison Janney's favorite cookie, Ashley's sand tart. The bakery will give one FREE sand tart away per customer on Saturday, Aug. 3.

The Hollywood A-lister and through-and-through Daytonian is a big fan of the sand tart and even has them frequently flown out to her set in Hollywood.
