However, changes to the labor deal between MLB and the players association mean beginning next year every team will play its first game March 29, a Thursday.
The change also means the Findlay Market Parade won't actually be held on opening day next year.
According to the Reds, the season has started on a Thursday 11 times before, including 2011.
The last time every team opened the season on the same date was 1968.
