Cincinnati Reds add outfielder from Boston Red Sox

The Cincinnati Reds added another prospect to their system Monday, acquiring Lorenzo Cedrola from the Red Sox for international signing bonus pool space.

The 20-year-old Cedrola is an outfielder from Venezuela who signed with Boston three years ago.

He has hit .302 in 262 minor-league games in the Boston system, where he has predominantly played center field.

Cedrola has spent this season and last season in Greenville of the South Atlantic League (Single-A).

He has raised his OPS from .709 last season to .782 so far this year, though his minor-league career numbers don’t show much power or patience at the plate.

In 50 games this season, he has 17 doubles, three triples, five walks and no home runs, but he has stolen 10 bases.
