Former Dayton Dragon Phillip Ervin has received his first call-up from the Cincinnati Reds.
The team announced the move Friday ahead of a weekend series with the Chicago Cubs.
An outfielder from Samford, Ervin was the Reds’ first-round pick in 2013.
He hit .237 with seven homers and 68 RBIs in Dayton in 2014. He also stole 30 bases.
This season, Ervin’s first at Triple-A Louisville, he is hitting .286 with three homers and 11 RBIs in 14 games.
The Reds also announced they have placed reliever Tony Cingrani on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right oblique.
