Cincinnati Reds sign left-handed reliever

The Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday signed left-handed relief pitcher Ian Krol to a minor league contract and invited him to Major League spring training camp.

Krol, 27, has appeared in 225 games — all in relief — over six seasons for four different teams (Nationals, Tigers, Braves, Angels). Krol owns an 8-6 career mark with a 4.50 ERA. He’s allowed 206 hits in 190 innings. He has one career save.

Krol’s best season came in 2016 with the Braves when he went 2-0 with a 3.18 ERA in 63 games.

Last season Krol made just one appearance in the majors with the Angels. He spent the rest of the season — 43 games — at Triple-A. He was 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA.
