2017 SEC Country Power Poll: Where Tennessee is ranked (Week 5)

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee has yet to rise in the SEC Country Power Poll this season, and this week is no different.

The 27 voters in SEC Country Power Poll responded to the 41-0 loss to Georgia by dropping the Vols from 10th to No. 12 in our poll this week.

Tennessee (3-2, 0-2 SEC) struggled to find any offensive spark in the game. This was the Vols’ first time to be shut out since 1994.

Coach Butch Jones zeroed in on what went wrong with the offense after the game.

“We never established any rhythm,” Jones said. “We didn’t establish any tempo. I don’t think we had any explosive plays. We have to up the tempo, we need explosive plays and we need consistency when we run the football.

“It was as bad of an offensive performance I’ve ever been a part of and it’s inexcusable.”

Quarterback Quinten Dormady completed 5 of his 16 passes for 64 yards and had 2 interceptions.

Running back John Kelly rushed for 44 yards on 16 attempts.

The bye week might come at a perfect time for the Vols. The Tennessee coaching staff needs some time to figure out where the problems are coming from.

Jones said every position will come under scrutiny and be evaluated over the next two weeks.

“Every position is up for a look in the bye week, so we have no starting positions,” Jones said. “We have a group of individuals that understand our expectations here at Tennessee, and especially when we play in Neyland Stadium.”
