Alabama basketball falls to Arkansas
Alabama suffered its third straight loss, this time at the hands of Arkansas at home on Saturday. The Crimson Tide came out in a “fog,” according to coach Avery Johnson. Alabama allowed an opponent to grab double-digit offensive rebounds for the third straight game as well. The Razorbacks totaled 13 and also forced Alabama to commit 18 turnovers.
The status of freshman guard Collin Sexton remained up in the air heading into the loss. He was named as a part of Yahoo Sports’ report on the FBI probe into college basketball. Sexton reportedly had a meal with former NBA agent Andy Miller’s associate, Christian Dawkins. Early this season, The Tuscaloosa News reported that Sexton sat out a game and paid restitution on a meal he received.
Sexton ended up playing against Arkansas, scoring 15 points on 3-of-10 shooting from the field.

Alabama is usually filled with big-name recruits every year. Players go to Alabama to be turned into NFL-ready athletes. Still, every once in a while, a lesser-known player flies under the radar and has a breakout season. A recent example of this is running back Josh Jacobs, who entered his freshman season as a 3-star recruit, but became an important part of the offense. Our own Marq Burnett took a look at the lesser-known player who could have a breakout season in 2018.
Promotion shows progress
Alabama promoted Mike Locksley to offensive coordinator. He previously served as the wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator. Locksley’s promotion is progress for African-Americans at large football programs. No one questioned the promotion of Locksley, which shows even greater progress.
