Alabama fans are not happy that Greg McElroy ranked the Crimson Tide as the No. 2 team in his rankings

Rankings mean just about nothing, especially since the College Football Playoff rankings don’t come out until later in the season. But some fans take them too seriously.

That was the case on Sunday afternoon with SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy. The former Alabama quarterback tweeted out his personal rankings, and he had Alabama as the No. 2 team, behind Clemson.

And Alabama fans were not happy about this at all.

McElroy isn’t alone in these feelings. Danny Kanell also had Alabama at No. 2, as did SEC Country’s Lauren Shute. While Alabama has been dominant this year, Clemson unquestionably has the better resume as of right now.

But as long as Alabama continues to win, it won’t matter. The Crimson Tide will be in the College Football Playoff if they win the SEC and they will get a chance to play for the national title.

Alabama takes on Texas A&M this Saturday, in College Station. Kickoff is set for 7:15 pm ET.
