Roach, of course, is a former two-time All-America linebacker for the Crimson Tide. Roach (2002-05) never played for Nick
Saban in Tulscaloosa, but did serve on the Tide support staff until taking the Ole Miss defensive line job in 2017.
A member of Alabama’s 2000s All-Decade team, Roach was an obvious candidate for this position even before Mack’s
public endorsement. Wilson likely knows Roach as he was Alabama’s director of player development in 2016, his freshman
season in Tuscaloosa.
There’s no timetable for Saban to announce a replacement for Dunbar. But with Signing Day in the rearview mirror
and spring practice still a couple weeks away, Saban can take his time.
