Andy Staples: TCU remains No. 4 in playoff picture

Count Sports Illustrated’s Andy Staples as one expert who didn’t forget about the No. 8 TCU Horned Frogs in their bye week.

Staples still has the Frogs as his last team in the College Football Playoff picture. He talked about his top four in a video on

“TCU at No. 4 is still kind of a placeholder for an undefeated or one-loss Big 12 champ,” Staples said. “I don’t know who the best of that group is, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State or West Virginia.”

He pointed to this weekend’s game between TCU and West Virginia as a potential watershed moment for the season.

The Frogs appear in few other experts’ top-four teams. The Austin American-Statesman’s Kirk Bohls ranked TCU at No. 3 for the second straight week. Jon Wilner of the San Jose State Mercury-News was the only other AP voter to put the Frogs in the top five.

ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit has TCU in his playoff picture as well.
