Auburn basketball won’t be down to only seven scholarship rotation players Saturday night against Florida, as Mustapha Heron is back after a one-game absence.
According to an Auburn spokesperson, Heron will play at Florida. Heron missed Auburn’s win over Alabama on Wednesday night with a stomach virus. He didn’t participate fully in practice Thursday, but Auburn coach Bruce Pearl sounded hopeful that he would return in time for the game.
“I know Mustapha, he’s going to want to be out there working,” Pearl said Thursday. “This is probably three, four days now? He hasn’t taken three or four days off in four years probably. We just got to get back to healthy, but he was feeling better this morning, so we’ll see.”
Heron is second on Auburn’s roster in scoring at 16.1 points per game. He also ranks second on the team in rebounds with 5.4 per contest.
The two-time SEC player of the week will most likely return to his spot in the starting lineup when the No. 12 Tigers tip off in Gainesville. The game is set to start at 8:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
