AUBURN, Ala. — Two of Auburn football’s top newcomers picked up recognition from the SEC on Monday morning after the Tigers’ 49-10 drubbing of Mississippi State.

Auburn sophomore quarterback Jarrett Stidham was named co-offensive player of the week with Georgia running back Nick Chubb, and redshirt freshman defensive end Nick Coe was named co-freshman of the week with Florida running back Malik Davis.

Stidham completed 13 of his 16 pass attempts for 264 yards and two touchdowns against Mississippi State on Saturday night. His quarterback rating of 261.1 was the highest for an Auburn passer since Cam Newton hit the same mark in a win over Chattanooga in 2010.

Coe had a career-high six tackles and four quarterback hurries in the victory. The 6-foot-5 defensive end from North Carolina has been Auburn’s top defensive lineman off the bench this season, rotating on the edge in third-down situations and playing some at tackle.

Stidham and Coe are Auburn’s second and third SEC players of the week. Sophomore defensive end Marlon Davidson took home the defensive lineman of the week honor last weekend after the Tigers’ 51-14 win at Missouri.
