Auburn football will be back home on the Plains to take on Mississippi State this weekend, fresh off opening its SEC schedule with a huge blowout win against struggling Missouri. Find game time, TV channel and how to watch online information below.
The No. 13 Tigers (3-1, 1-0 SEC) will hope to send No. 24 Mississippi State (3-1, 1-1 SEC) reeling after the Bulldogs opened their two-game road trip with a 31-3 loss at Georgia. Auburn, on the other hand, slammed Missouri by a score of 51-14 in its first-ever trip to the Show Me State.
While Mississippi State has won three of the last five meetings against Auburn, the Tigers pulled off the biggest win in recent series history last season with a 38-14 victory in Starkville. If Auburn can execute that type of win again, it will be in good shape heading into the meat of its SEC slate.

Auburn-Mississippi State betting picks
Justin Ferguson: Auburn 31, Miss. State 20
Auburn can thank Georgia for laying out a great blueprint on how to take care of Mississippi State last week. The Tigers need to take care of the ball on offense and force Nick Fitzgerald to beat you with his arm. I think Auburn’s defensive talent outweighs Mississippi State’s offensive talent, and that’ll be the difference in this one. The offense won’t light up the scoreboard, but it’ll still show progress against a much better opponent than its last two. Auburn pulls away late in a lower-scoring but solid SEC victory.
Lauren Shute: Auburn 38, Miss. State 3
Even though one of Auburn’s worst offensive performances came against one of its worst opponents, last weekend’s win in Missouri was still significant. The fact that Auburn put together a clean game and took care of business like it was expected to was important. Not to mention players that have needed to be more involved in the offense managed to make some impact plays. Kevin Steele’s defense will be amped up for another challenge and perhaps even more so now that they have seen a consistent game from its counterpart. Expect Auburn to put on a show at home in a real SEC atmosphere.
Benjamin Wolk: Auburn 38, Miss. State 10
Georgia laid out a blueprint of how to defend Nick Fitzgerald and Mississippi State’s rushing attack. Don’t let anything go on the perimeter and find a way to make Fitzgerald beat you with his arm. Luckily for Auburn, its defensive front is likely even deeper and more imposing than Georgia’s, so I expect back-to-back weeks of headaches for Fitzgerald and Co. Conversely, last week’s offensive output was exactly what the Auburn offense needed to find a groove. That will stick in the Tigers’ return to Jordan-Hare.
Zac Blackerby: Auburn 31, Miss. State 13
Jarrett Stidham and the Auburn offense continue their momentum from last Saturday’s victory. The Auburn defense will constrict Mississippi State quarterback Nick Fitzgerald and force him to move the offense with his arm. Tigers start the season 2-0 in conference
Auburn-Mississippi State betting preview
- Auburn running back Kamryn Pettway rushed a career-high 39 times in the Tigers’ 24-point win against Mississippi State last season. Pettway is expected to play in Week 5 after Auburn held him out of the entire Week 4 win vs. Missouri.
- After throwing just 4 incompletions last week against Missouri, Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham is now ninth nationally in completion percentage at 70.6. That’s the highest mark in the SEC, narrowly ahead of Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson.
- Auburn is fourth nationally in total yards allowed per game and is only one of two SEC teams (Georgia at ninth) to be inside the top 10. The Tigers are even statistically at 3.63 yards per play with Clemson, a team they played in Week 2.
- Auburn running back Kerryon Johnson rushed for 5 touchdowns last Saturday against Missouri, tying a season FBS high. His mark was just one shy of the school record, which was set by Carnell “Cadillac” Williams in 2003.
