AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn football has a much better bill of health this week as it prepares for a ranked SEC home opener against Mississippi State.
Junior running back Kamryn Pettway, senior linebacker Tre’ Williams and sophomore cornerback Javaris Davis — all starters — are dressed out and active after missing a 51-14 win over Missouri last week due to injury.
All three were expected to play, but Davis was the only player who didn’t have a definite update from coach Gus Malzahn during the week. Davis is the only one who is listed as a starter for the game.
Pettway dressed out against Missouri but didn’t play a single play. He is dealing with an ankle injury he suffered in Week 3 against Mercer, when he took all of the Tigers’ carries in a 24-10 victory. Auburn announced Kerryon Johnson as the Tigers’ starting running back in pregame warmups.
Williams aggravated a nagging shoulder injury against Mercer and sat out the Missouri game last week. The Tigers’ senior linebacker leads the team in tackles by a healthy margin with 25 in just three games. He was not announced in the starting lineup pregame.
Davis suffered a leg injury in the first half of the Mercer game two weeks ago and did not play against Missouri. Sophomore cornerback Jamel Dean started in his place, but Davis returned to the announced starting lineup.
On the offensive line, senior Darius James was announced as a starter at left tackle, replacing sophomore Prince Tega Wanogho. Austin Golson is at right tackle, with Casey Dunn making his second consecutive start at center.
