Bret Bielema delivered some welcome news to Arkansas Razorbacks fans on Wednesday.
During his weekly appearance on the SEC coaches conference call, Bielema said that wide receiver Brandon Martin, who missed time during fall camp with a back injury and has sat out games this season with a hamstring injury, is “on the verge” of playing again.
The Razorbacks travel to Columbia, South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks in what will be their first true road game of the season.
“Looks great,” Bielema said. “He’s out at practice, catching balls, does good things as a runner as well. Very excited to get him in the lineup this week.”
If he is able to go, Martin should be able to help the Razorbacks create some long plays downfield in the passing game, which Bielema said will be a key against Will Muschamp’s defense which, he said, has been “efficient” and is “not giving up big plays.”
