It was a successful year for Texas Tech head coach Chris Beard — both on the court and in his bank account.
Beard took the Red Raiders to a 27-10 season and an Elite Eight appearance. It was the most wins for a Texas Tech team since the 1995-96 season and the farthest the school has ever gone in the NCAA Tournament. The Red Raiders were No. 14 in the final AP Poll, and on Tuesday, it was announced that they finished at No. 6 in the Coaches Poll, the highest finish in school history.
With all of that success comes a reward, and Beard is hauling in some bonus money. USA Today’s Steve Berkowitz tallied up all of Beard’s bonuses, and when you factor in the final $15,000 he earned for the Coaches Poll finish, Beard ends the year with a total of $325,000 in on-court bonus earnings.
Texas Tech coach Chris Beard picks up additional $15,000 bonus as Red Raiders are No. 6 in final @usatodaysports men's basketball coaches poll. (He'd already gotten $10K for team being No. 14 in final AP poll.) His final on-court bonus total for season is $325,000.

Earlier in March, with the Red Raiders in the midst of their hot streak, Beard received a major contract extension. The second-year head coach signed a six-year deal for a little north of $19 million dollars, boosting him into the top-20 highest-earning coaches in the country.
For what Beard’s done for this program, that’s a steal of a deal.
