Chris Holtmann’s first season at Ohio State came to a close Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Buckeyes fell short against fourth-seeded Gonzaga. But, at 25-9, Ohio State had a better 2017-18 campaign than nearly anyone predicted. Holtmann took to Twitter on Monday to say thanks to everyone who helped make his first season in Columbus a success.
“Thank you to our seniors, players, managers, coaching and support staff for a season full of many great memories,” read a caption Holtmann posted. “In addition, thank you Buckeye Nation for the tremendous support along this journey of Team #119.”

While Holtmann’s first season at Ohio State was memorable, his first offseason comes with a lot of intrigue. The most-pressing question for the Buckeyes in the spring will be Keita Bates-Diop’s NBA decision.
“I haven’t really thought about it,” the fourth-year junior said after the loss to Gonzaga. “I was just trying to focus on the season. Me and coach talked about it, just focus on the season and don’t worry about anything else until afterwards. Now I’ll think about it with my family and coaches.”
