Clay Travis has stinging words for LSU officials who gave coach Ed Orgeron a $12 million buyout.
Writing for Outkick The Coverage on Sunday, the analyst was critical of Orgeron after the Tigers’ rough 24-21 loss to Troy on Saturday at Tiger Stadium. Under the heading, “Ed Orgeron is a disaster at LSU,” Travis broke down his thoughts in a sharp message.
Here’s part of his column:
This is the worst contract negotiation down on the bayou since Napoleon sold the Louisiana Purchase to Jefferson in 1803 for $15 million. Even the native Americans who sold Manhattan for $24 in trinkets think this was an awful deal.
Everyone at LSU who gave Ed Orgeron a $12 million dollar buyout should be fired when he gets fired too.
Travis isn’t the only commentator who’s baffled by this buyout. USA Today’s Dan Wolken also was critical of LSU’s leadership when addressing LSU’s uninspiring 3-2 start.
Because of the buyout, it’s unlikely that Orgeron goes anywhere soon. But the coach needs a pivot in a hurry to calm the concerns about LSU’s direction under his leadership.
Things don’t look good for LSU right now. That must change fast.
