Coaching rumors: UCF routs Memphis as Scott Frost-to-Nebraska talk builds

Nebraska has won two in a row. But that won’t stop the Scott Frost rumors.

The former Huskers QB continues to do well with UCF, as the Knights routed previously undefeated Memphis, 40-13. UCF is 3-0, as it routed Florida International, 61-17, and then dominated Maryland, 38-10.

College football experts are taking notice, too. The Scott Frost-to-Nebraska speculation isn’t going away.

“Holy hell, UCF is mugging Memphis. Nebraska fans probably noticed this,” AP’s Ralph D. Russo tweeted.

“UCF looks like the team to beat in the American and a top contender for a New Year’s Six bowl slot,” ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg tweeted. “Scott Frost’s team, 0-12 just two years ago, crushed Memphis 40-13 in Orlando. The Knights outgained Memphis 603-382 and forced four turnovers. Expect Frost to get serious consideration for Power 5 jobs in this cycle, and not just at Nebraska if it opens.”

Before Frost came to UCF, he was Oregon’s offensive coordinator. With the Knights, Frost took a program that went 0-12 and went 6-7 his first season. Now UCF is 3-0 and could be battling ranked South Florida in the American Athletic Conference.

Frost was 24-2 as Nebraska’s starting quarterback, leading the Huskers to a share of the 1997 national championship. That season, Scott passed for 1,237 yards while rushing for 1,095 yards.
