Dan Hurley officially hired as UConn basketball coach

Last week, Dan Hurley was coaching Rhode Island as it made a run to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. Today, Hurley has been officially hired as the new coach of UConn.

Multiple reports linked Hurley to UConn over the last 24 hours, but the Huskies made it official on Thursday morning on Twitter.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, Hurley and UConn agreed on a six-year deal. The 45-year-old Hurley is replacing former UConn coach Kevin Ollie, who was fired in early March.
