Donte Burton commits to Wisconsin: Badgers land cornerback recruit

3-star Loganville, Ga. recruit Donte Burton has committed to play football at Wisconsin, he announced Sunday on Twitter.

Burton is a 3-star recruit on the 247Sports composite, which ranks him as the No. 66 cornerback and No. 76 Georgia recruit in the Class of 2018. The 6-foot, 174-pound prospect chose the Badgers over Notre Dame and Louisville, among other schools.

Burton’s commitment doesn’t come completely out of the blue, but Notre Dame was considered the heavy favorite in his recruitment for a while. Here’s what his 247Sports crystal ball projections looked like at the time of his commitment:

Only one out of 11 analysts had predicted Burton would commit to Wisconsin, but most predictions there were from before Burton’s visit to Wisconsin this weekend.

Burton witnessed the Badgers’ 33-24 win over Northwestern on Saturday, and didn’t wait long to publicly announce his commitment. His Twitter announcement came less than 24 hours after the Badgers’ finished off the Wildcats at Camp Randall.

Burton was scheduled to take a visit to Notre Dame on Oct. 21 before he announced his commitment to Wisconsin, and did not say in his commitment whether or not he will still be taking that visit..
