According to Chris Anderson of EerSports.com, Elijah Battle is set to start for the West Virginia Mountaineers in their massive matchup with TCU this weekend.
According to ESPN, Battle has seven total tackles on the season, no pass breakups, and no interceptions.
Freshman Kenny Robinson has been moved to backup cornerback.
The change is fairly big for a Mountaineer secondary that has been solid on a defense that hasn’t lived up to expectations. West Virginia’s defensive line has struggled, and their linebackers have dealt with injury problems. The Mountaineers will get incredible safety Kyzir White back from injury as well.
The depth chart has been shuffled, but the Mountaineers are still likely going to need luck to win in Fort Worth this Saturday. The TCU Horned Frogs are a legitimate top ten team, and there’s not many teams that can slow down their offense. The West Virginia defense is going to have to play incredible technical football on Saturday if the Mountaineers are going to walk out of the Carter with a win.
