Former Oklahoma linebacker Eric Striker was known for ferocious hits, a loud voice and a positive demeanor while in college.
Striker tried his hand at the NFL after helping Oklahoma to a Sugar Bowl win in 2013 and a College Football Playoff berth in 2015. He eventually found himself back in Norman, Oklahoma, however, as a defensive recruiting analyst following a short-lived pro career.
You might be asking, what exactly does a defensive recruiting analyst do?
According to Tulsa World reporter Eric Bailey, part of Striker’s responsibilities is to give tours of Oklahoma’s facilities to recruits and their families.
“I share my story, as well. My big punch comes when the guys get on campus. I get to show them around and be around them and let them feel my presence and I get to feel their presence,” Striker said to the Tulsa World. “I get to be around their parents and have good conversation and show them around and show them how much a family that they are. They feel that.”
He’s also helped voice hype videos for the Sooners, another major key in the modern recruiting game.
Striker was hired in April by former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, and from the sound of it, Striker appears to be a great hire for the team.
It makes plenty of sense why the Sooners football program would want Striker front and center, showing potential future players the campus as someone who helped Oklahoma achieve a great deal of success as a player.
