The wheels are already in motion for the 2020 South Carolina recruiting cycle. Luke Doty (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) is one of three quarterbacks with an offer.

Along with co-offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Kurt Roper, coach Will Muschamp relayed news of the offer after Doty threw for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed for 173 yards and a score in his first career start for the Myrtle Beach varsity.

South Carolina’s coaches saw him a few weeks later when Doty and his family visited for the Kentucky game.

“It was awesome. First home game, that place was rocking. They’ve always been very good to my family and me,” he said. “That was my mom’s first time coming to a game in a while. That was my brother’s first time being there. We just had a blast. It was awesome.”

Roper “was just excited to have me there,” Doty said.

“He was very impressed with the way I’ve been playing these past few weeks. He just said he looks forward to getting me back up there and continue to watch me get better as the season goes on,” Doty said.

It was a similar message from Muschamp.

“He basically reiterated what Coach Roper said. He said he was very impressed with what I bring to the table, as far as playing on Friday nights,” Doty said. “He was impressed and wanted to continue to watch me get better through these next few years and definitely as the season progresses.”

A return trip later this season is in the works, but Doty is still mapping out his visit plans for the rest of the fall. He’s made tentative plans for North Carolina, N.C. State, Clemson, Coastal Carolina and Charlotte.

“We’re just getting everything finalized and seeing how we do Friday and Thursday nights, then we go from there,” Doty said.

Along with South Carolina, North Carolina, Charlotte and Coastal Carolina have offered.
