Felton Davis III scores two first quarter TDs as Michigan State puts Iowa in an early hole

A week after getting beat down by Notre Dame, Michigan State has written a new script for this Saturday and it includes a lot of Felton Davis III.

The Spartans are up 14-0 after one quarter in East Lansing, thanks to two Brian Lewerke touchdown throws to Davis III. The first toss came after Lewerke extended the play with his legs and fit a tight pass by an Iowa defender. Davis III did the rest.

Davis III currently has 73 of Lewerke’s 84 passing yards and has caught five of his seven completions. This stat line is already much better than his four reception, 38 yard performance against the Fighting Irish a week prior.

Davis III caught his second touchdown from Lewerke later in the first, as he showed off his hops by going up and catching the score over Iowa’s Michael Ojemudia and Amani Hooker.

The Spartans are looking great against the Hawkeyes, and that was just one quarter. Michigan State has held high-octane running back Akrum Wadley to only nine yards early on, which he got all on one draw play.

Michigan State currently leads Iowa 14-7 in the second quarter, and are looking to respond to the Hawkeyes after allowing a touchdown.
