Luke Del Rio sent an encouraging message on Twitter on Sunday morning.
A day after the Florida quarterback sustained a season-ending left collarbone injury in a victory against Vanderbilt, Del Rio used Twitter to say that “I’m not going to let my circumstances change who I am.”
Del Rio received the start for the Gators’ game against the Commodores on Saturday afternoon at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. However, he left the game after being driven into the turf late in the second quarter. As relayed by SEC Country’s Ryan Young, Florida coach Jim McElwain said Del Rio is done for the season and that the player would have surgery on Monday.
Del Rio, a junior, completed 7 of 11 passes for 64 yards against Vanderbilt before leaving with the injury. After throwing for 1,358 yards with 8 touchdowns and 8 interceptions last season, he completed 16 of 25 passes for 138 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception in two games this year.
Florida hosts LSU at 3:30 p.m. ET next Saturday.
The post Florida QB Luke Del Rio on Twitter after injury: ‘I’m not going to let my circumstances change who I am’ appeared first on SEC Country.
