Jaden Davis visits Florida
Florida’s junior day event on Saturday attracted some of the top recruits in the Sunshine State, including Jaden Davis.
The 4-star cornerback from St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) is a priority target for Florida coach Dan Mullen and cornerbacks coach Charlton Warren in the 2019 class.
“I was able to talk to Coach Warren and Coach Mullen a little bit,” Davis told SEC Country. “Just being able to talk to them and get back on campus again was just another step towards the right direction.
“This was my first time being up here with the new staff. … It’s just a new vibe. Coach Mullen is a cool guy and tries to relate more to the players. Coach Warren, I love his vibe.”
Warren recruited Davis last year when he was an assistant at Tennessee and their relationship has carried over to Florida. Davis has also spoken with a couple defensive backs for the Gators about their new position coach.
“Just talking to him is a great experience,” Davis said of Warren. “I’ve talked to him before when he was at Tennessee, but now at Florida I was able to talk to guys like Marco Wilson and Brian Edwards. Talking to them about coach Warren and actually getting coached by him, they were saying he’s a great coach and he’ll put you in the right direction.”
Davis will return for Florida for an official visit on June 8. He also plans to take official visits to Ohio State (April 6), Oklahoma (April 13) and possibly Penn State.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound prospect is ranked the nation’s No. 19 cornerback and No. 207 overall recruit in the 247Sports composite. He wants to make his decision in July.
“I’m a big family (guy), so family is a big thing. Just interaction with the coaches and players, that’s big for me,” Davis said when asked what his deciding factor will be. “Everybody’s going to have great facilities, you’re going to love every visit. But it’s just about the coaching staff and how they interact with their players and what they do to get them better and how they care about them.”
