The Florida State Seminoles were not ranked in the Week 5 Associated Press Top 25 Poll that was released on Sunday afternoon.
Florida State dropped out of the poll last week, after losing to N.C. State at home, and received just 35 votes. The Seminoles remained out this week, despite picking up their first win.
Five ACC teams made the list, including N.C. State (4-1), which is 24th and defeated Florida State a week earlier.
The Seminoles bounced back this week with a tough 26-19 win at Wake Forest, which entered the game with a spotless record, after a late touchdown pass from James Blackman to Auden Tate.
“It’s been a long time since we felt what it was like to win a game,” Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said. “It’s been since last year. You can never take anything for granted. You can never take for granted how special winning is and how hard it is. I think this game was a testament to how good this league is. You can never appreciate winning enough, and that locker room was very excited.”
Florida State opened the season at No. 3, with four first-place votes, in the preseason AP Top 25 poll but then fell to 10th after losing its season opener against top-ranked Alabama.
The Seminoles dropped one spot, to No. 11, after not playing their game against Louisiana-Monroe because of Hurricane Irma and then fell to 12th after not playing rival Miami, a game that was postponed.
Up next for the Seminoles is an ACC showdown with rival Miami (3-0).
