Florida State tight end appears to throw shade at previous coaching staff on Twitter

Florida State tight end-Twitter shade-previous staff-Jimbo Fisher

It hasn’t taken long for Willie Taggart to make a positive mark on Florida State football. Through some strong recruiting efforts and an aim to shift the culture of the team, he looks well positioned to bring the program back from what was a disappointing 2017 season under Jimbo Fisher.

One player in particular that has taken notice is Alex Marshall, a 4-star recruit that redshirted last season but could find himself as a key contributor in offensive coordinator Walt Bell’s system in 2018. Marshall, who hasn’t been shy about sharing his thoughts on Twitter on other topics, made his opinion known about the previous staff on Friday following the first week of offseason workouts.

That’s quite the indictment on Fisher — who left to sign a 10-year, $75 contract at Texas A&M — and his staff of assistants. While Marshall’s tweet may have made more of a ripple if it came from a upperclassman, it’s still rather interesting to see this level of honesty being expressed.

We’ll see if Taggart’s work pays off this upcoming season. But with the work toward spring football beginning in earnest, it looks like his players are buying in.
