Former Missouri star Kony Ealy earns game ball for New York Jets following death of his sister

Last week, Sierra Jones, the older sister of former Missouri star Kony Ealy passed away at the age of 32. Jones had suffered from a rare, lifelong chromosome disorder.

Ealy, who described his relationship with Sierra to NFL.com last year, had the option to sit out today’s game with the New York Jets. Instead, he chose to suit up. And after tallying a tackle, four passes defensed, and a massive interception against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Ealy earned the game ball from the Jets’ coaching staff:

Ealy’s big interception occurred in the third quarter when he got a hand on a Blake Bortles pass, hauled it in, and returned it to the seven yard line, setting up a Jets’ field goal to extend their lead to 20-10.

What an incredible, bittersweet moment for one of the better defensive lineman to come out of Missouri in recent years.
