Paige was recalled from the Greensboro Swarm — Charlotte’s G-League affiliate — on Thursday and made his second appearance for the Hornets. In 12 minutes, he scored nine points on 3-of-6 shooting. He also recorded two assists and a rebound.
The Hornets are the fourth team Paige has played for in his two-year NBA career. The Brooklyn Nets selected him in the second round with 55th overall pick, but was traded to the Utah Jazz the next day. He played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Summer League before signing with Charlotte on Aug. 1.
Thursday may be a sign of things to come if Paige’s time at North Carolina is any indication. He tallied the 11th-most points in UNC history (1,870), seventh-most assists (602) and third-most assists (203).
That production from the Marion, Iowa native piloted the Tar Heels to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a runner-up finish as a senior.
