Former USC WR Jalen Greene to play for Illinois in grad season

Jalen Greene-USC-Illinois

On May 5, USC wide receiver Jalen Greene announced that he would be competing a fifth and final year on the football field, taking advantage of the NCAA graduate transfer rule, which allows athletes to compete while attaining their graduate degrees.

And on Thursday, Greene made it known where he would be playing: the University of Illinois.

Greene, a converted quarterback from Junipero Serra, caught eight passes for 98 yards in 10 games for the Trojans last season. He also caught eight passes for 116 yards in 2016.

Illinois will be quite a change of pace for Greene, who won a pair of bowls and never suffered a losing season in Los Angeles. Illinois has not had a winning season since 2011, in which the Fighting Illini went 7-6, and they have not won a bowl since that same year.

Greene will be eligible to play immediately.
