Details have emerged about what the Houston Police Department says happened involving Michael Bennett that resulted in the grand jury indictment of the Philadelphia Eagles defensive end and former Texas A&M defensive lineman.

And they’re not pleasant.

On Friday afternoon, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo held a news conference about the indictment. Bennett faces a felony charge of injury of the elderly for injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic who was working at Houston’s NRG Stadium to control access to the field at Super Bowl 51.

You can see the full news conference here. But Acevedo said Bennett was vulgar after the player tried to walk onto the field following the New England Patriots’ victory against the Atlanta Falcons that day. After Bennett pushed two female stadium employees, Acevedo said, Bennett addressed the women by saying, “Y’all must know who I am. I can own this motherf—–. I’m going onto the field whether you like it or not.”

Acevedo also said the 66-year-old paraplegic sustained a sprained shoulder when Bennett pushed her. A 28-year-old woman was pushed as well, per Acevedo.

Here’s a clip from TMZ Sports detailing Bennett’s alleged comments to the female stadium employees:

The Eagles released a statement on the matter Friday afternoon. The charge facing Bennett, as outlined in the Harris County District Attorney’s release, carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years in prison with a $10,000 fine. Bennett played for Texas A&M from 2005-08 before beginning his professional career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009. The Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl 51.

Bennett has 293 tackles with 54 sacks in his NFL career. He played for the Bucs from 2009-12 before appearing with the Seattle Seahawks from 2013-17.
