How Arkansas’ commits fared: Connor Noland, Bumper Pool among the standouts this week

Several of Arkansas’ 11 commitments in the 2018 class were in action this weekend. Some had big statistical performances, and others made crucial plays to help lift their respective teams to victory.

Throughout the 2017 season, SEC Country will provide weekly updates on the performances of as many Arkansas commits as possible.

Here’s how they fared this week:

How the Arkansas commits fared (Sept. 28-30)

Connor Noland, 4-star QB: 20 of 25, 268 passing yards, 56 rushing yards, 3 total TD, INT

Noland was efficient as usual in leading Greenwood (Ark.) to its 28th consecutive regular-season win. The offense had 402 first-half yards and 556 total in a 52-21 win over El Dorado (Ark.). Noland has now completed 89 of 129 passes this season for 1,159 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Bumper Pool, 4-star LB: 19 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 fumble recoveries

Pool has been outstanding this season by all accounts despite his Lovejoy (Lucas, Texas) team struggling to an 0-5 start. Last Friday was more of the same from the star linebacker, with nearly 20 tackles and pair of fumble recoveries. Wherever the ball goes, Pool isn’t far behind.

Tanner McCalister, 3-star CB: 25 carries, 253 rushing yards, 3 TDs, 4 tackles, INT

McCalister continues to do it all for Rockwall (Texas) Heath. Last Friday, he punched in the game-winning touchdown as time expired to lift Heath to a 28-27 victory over crosstown rival Rockwall. Watch the video of that run below. It’s impressive. What’s really incredible is the final run was play No. 142 for him on the night. He now has a combined 708 rushing yards over the past three weeks.

Jeremy Gibson, 3-star RB: 8 carries, 41 rushing yards, 3 catches, 30 receiving yards

Gibson was busy jumping over and running through opponents for Riverside Academy (Reserve, La.) on Friday night. He was up against a stout De La Salle (New Orleans) defense, which makes the highlights you can watch below more impressive.

Ty Evans, 3-star QB (2019): 15 of 26, 300 yards, 5 total TDs

Evans had another huge game through the air with 4 passing touchdowns. He added another score on the ground. His Palmer Ridge (Monument, Colo.) team is now 5-0 for the first time in school history. Evans now has 20 passing touchdowns on the season, averaging four per game.
