Oklahoma State wide receiver James Washington doesn’t have the usual imposing size for one of the best receivers in the country, but it hasn’t stopped him from becoming one of them this season.
SB Nation’s online series Wake Up, College Football discussed who should be considered for the Heisman Trophy following September, and Washington was tabbed as a contender.
“I’m going to go James Washington. Overlooked, receivers in general. … He doesn’t look like your protypical huge downfield threat,” SB Nation’s Dan Rubenstein said on the show. “He’s solidly like a trapezoid up top and it’s wonderful.”
As one of Mason Rudolph’s favorite receiving targets, the 6-foot, 205-pound senior has 647 yards receiving on 28 receptions and 5 touchdown receptions through four games this season.
The Cowboys are 3-1 with its lone loss coming against TCU. The Cowboys still have plenty of football to get back into the Big 12 title hunt and accelerate the Heisman buzz for Washington.
