Villanova leads West Virginia by a 44-42 mark, and nothing has come easy for either team.
Despite Villanova’s 44 points in the first half, Wildcats head coach Jay Wright was very complimentary of the hustle from West Virginia.
When asked about how Villanova would correct its miscues by TBS reporter Allie LaForce, Wright said, “I don’t know. I don’t know. It’s complete chaos out there. I give West Virginia a lot of credit. They’re so physical.”
West Virginia appeared to be in complete control of the game at some points in the first half, but the talented Villanova offense broke through to give the Wildcats a slim lead.
The Mountaineers will have to contend with guard Jalen Brunson, who has 16 points in the first half. If they can contain Brunson, the game and a berth in the Elite Eight could be theirs for the taking.
